Point Dume Beach remains closed to cars at the end of Westward Rd, but walking in was allowed today. The restoration and repair of the beach, includes a new rip rap rock wall to fill in areas completed eroded by recent winter storms and king tides. One section of the road was damaged during construction repairs and needs to be repaired before road can completely reopen to cars. Possibly this weekend.

Sunny 54 degrees with 1-3 mph winds. Clear views of Catalina and Channel Islands. One unknown whale was seen but not identified.

Earlier 3 north bound gray whales were observed by Reliable Eye Witness (REW) local whale watchers.
