Overcast Gray Day, Drizzle and Two North Bound Gray Whales

2 North Bound 0 South Bound 3.75 hrs

Cloudy overcast 60 degree air temperature and 55 degree water temperature. Several surfers north side of beach. REW’s reported two solo whales and one pair mid day. On effort (counting time) two solo whales passed through thirty minutes apart migrating fast, barely surfacing in a rush of white water, both fluked as they went through at top migration speeds. Visibility was clear to horizon directly ahead with cargo ship seen passing ten miles out in the shipping lanes but no islands were visible north or south due to heavy marine layer obscuring the horizon. Air temperature dropped to 54 degrees with misty drizzle at sunset and heavy storm clouds looming over channel islands.
