Clear horizon with views of Catalina Island and The Channel Islands to the north. Two sightings, one single in close but traveled through quickly then a trio moved through coming in closer as it passed the transect them bearing out into the sunline as it continued north westerly. LA County Ocean Lifeguard Carter Baldwin on duty keeping watch in the QRU (quick response unit).

A beautiful sunset with several squadrons of brown pelicans soaring high along the coast and passing in large numbers over head with the moon rising to the east and the sun setting to the west. A split second green flash with a pink “Belt of Venus” after glow to the south, as the pelicans continue to soar north on the way to roost for the night.
