Met a wonderful couple Lori and Frank, who are new SoCal transplants from NY and love bird watching. They pointed out the Rufus Towhee’s that like to feed just under and around the observation platform / deck at the end of Poppy Lane in Point Dume State Park.
A Mega pod of dolphins was spotted heading north with 1000+ leaping and porpoising all the way past the transect towards the horizon for as far as the eye can see.
3 gray whales milled for over an hour 100 yards out, below the deck with dives lasting 7 min each 2-3 quick breaths with blows and down- no flukes before slowing traveling through.
