Rain all morning and drizzle last night. Mid day the clouds broke up with strong gusty 25+mph winds with 30+ mph gusts, 60 degrees. A near gale wind based on the Beaufort Wind Scale. Rough choppy seas in Santa Monica Bay and at Point Dume along the coast of Malibu. Party sunny, partly cloudy. Difficult to spot or look for whales with strong gusts making it nearly impossible to look north. Leaves and debris in the air with whistling heard as the trees bent in the gusty air. Street signs were blowing and banging on the poles.

Some areas along Poppy Lane in Point Dume Natural Preserve were tolerable to enjoy the wildflower blooms which are protected from the strongest gusts by the bluff above but the Santa Monica Bay was filled with white caps and the more typically calm, Big Dume cove was also rough and choppy. It was very difficult in these conditions to locate or track whales.
Point Dume State Beach the sand was blowing hard and accumulating quickly in the parking lots and on the streets near the beaches.

On the drive out traffic lights and chained street signs hanging below the traffic lights were observed blowing and swinging at the red lights.
