One Gray Whale on February First

February 1, 2024 Thursday

Cold, wet and rainy morning 51 degrees with high surf. Afternoon sun warm up to high of 62 degrees and steady winds 5-7mph from the East offshore. One Gray Whale traveled though the transect quickly in the rough choppy surf making it hard to track. Two large passenger aircrafts flew past loud and right overhead today, which is not a common sight.

Coastal Bottlenose Dolphins porpoised in and out of the surf, delighting observers.

Layers of storm clouds filled the horizon, some, back lit by the last rays of the setting sun with vibrant shades of yellow, orange, pink and purples.
